Gothic cathedra
The cathedra, a term derived from the Latin cathedra ''seat with a high back'', also called the bishop's throne for the priest.
This model shows a rich sculpted decoration typical of the flamboyant Gothic style.
Crenellations, balustrades with contours in the form of undulating flames, intertwining and intersecting, leafy pinnacles.
The seat conceals a chest for storing liturgical objects.
The upper part of the backrest is covered with embroidered fabric and a coat of arms and the lower part with purple velvet with an embroidered coat of arms under which is inscribed "lacaro con cales melecio".
The side of the armrests upholstered with a brown fabric and an embroidered coat of arms.
Elements of the 16th and 17th century. Origin : Spain.
Painted and gilded wood.
Some slight damages.
Height 220 cm. - Width 105 cm - Depth 57 cm.
